1. Petunia trailing Back to Black
A relatively new variety of trailing Petunia wich beautiful deep, velvety flowers. Back to Black looks absolutely stunning planted in hanging baskets or patio containers. You could also try planting Back to Black in flower pouches to create a column of gorgeous flowers. Petunia plugs are easy to grow. Once the frosts have passed, plant them in your garden for masses of flowers throughout the summer.
2. Fuchsia upright hardy Deltas Sarah
Deltas Sarah has become popular with the trend towards ‘blue’ flowered Fuchsias. It has a lovely blue/lilac corolla with white sepals. A hardy bush Fuchsia, Deltas Sarah is perfect for adding colour to garden beds and borders or patio containers. With the right care hardy Fuchsias will survive most winters to flower summer after summer! Deltas Sarah has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
3. Helichrysum Gold
Helichrysum is a fantastic basket plant grown for its coloured foliage. The Gold variety is extremely vigorous and provides intresting texture and contrast to colourful blooms. Plant Helichrysum in mixed hanging baskets with other vigorous trailers such as Surfinias®, Giant Fuchsias and Lobelia to prevent it from dominating the basket.
4. Bacopa Great Purple
Bacopa is a lovely trailing plant that is ideal for hanging baskets. Bacopa produces masses of flowers throughout the summer months. Unlike trailers like Nepeta which have long, hanging trails, Bacopa’s growth is spreading, so it forms a lovely clump of colour.
Tumbelinas® are a range of trailing Petunias with stunning, fully-double flowers. They are perfect for planting in hanging baskets or patio containers, where they will flower throughout the summer.
Autumnale is an interesting trailing Fuchsia grown for its foliage. It has yellow/green leaves with red veins which turn red in the Autumn, hence its name! It produces flowers with red sepals and a purple corolla. It is ideal for adding interest to your hanging baskets. Autumnale has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
7. Geranium upright Chocolate Twist
This upright Geranium has ‘fancy leaves’ with jagged edges. They are green with a dark ring or ‘zone’. Choclate Twist produces vibrant red double flowers throughout the summer. It is ideal for planting in garden beds and borders or patio containers. Geraniums are Meditteranean plants so the more sun they receive, the more they flower!
8. Fuchsia trailing Frosted Flame
This lovely trailing Fuchsia has flushed pink sepals and a flame marbled corolla. It is ideal for planting in hanging baskets or patio containers. Plant in full sun or partial shade.
9. Coleus Canina Green ‘Scardy Cat’
Although this coleus plant may not look very exciting, it is popular because of the scent given off by its leaves, which deters cats from the area around where its planted. Plant it in patio containers or garden beds and borders in areas where you have a cat problem!
10. Fuchsia upright Celia Smedley
Celia Smedley is an upright Fuchsia with pale red and white single flowers. It is ideal for planting in patio containers. It also makes a lovely centrepiece for mixed hanging baskets. Celia Smedley has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.
